Description
The Treating Professional Membership is exclusively for treating professionals in a position to recognize the symptoms of selective mutism and treat this disorder. This may include but is not limited to: psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, school psychologists, pediatricians, family practice physicians, behavior analysts, and speech and language pathologists. Professionals who sign up for this membership must meet one of the following two criteria:
- Hold a valid license or certification in good standing that enables treatment of selective mutism as set forth by the guidelines of the respective accrediting agency
- Working 50% or more as a faculty member in a degree-granting institution that supports the selective mutism community
SMA membership allows you the unique opportunity to learn from experts in the field of selective mutism and co-occurring disorders. You can connect with other professionals to share resources/information, referrals and ideas via our SMA email listserv, keep up to date on research and journal publications in the field, network with other treating professionals, and promote your practice to the many individuals and families who seek help and support from our organization.
If you have three or more professionals from your practice join SMA, you are eligible for a discount. Contact membership@selectivemutism.org for more information.
The SMA receives no government funding and our work is 100% privately funded thanks to the generosity of members and donors. By becoming an SMA member, you can support our work to increase awareness, education, and research, and to improve the lives of all those affected by selective mutism.
