Kelly Melhorn, BCaBA
Selective Mutism H.E.L.P.
Kelly Melhorn, BCaBA, has been dedicated to understanding Selective Mutism since 2018 when her own daughter was diagnosed with SM. In 2020, Kelly started Selective Mutism H.E.L.P. (Home Educational Learning Program) to bring free online Summits, podcasts, and other resources to those who were looking for answers about SM.
Kelly was awarded the Outstanding Student of the Year Award while she was enrolled in the Masters of Behavior Analysis program at Florida Institute of Technology. Kelly graduated with Honors in 2022 and in February of 2024, she became a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst and continues to work under supervision with the goal of becoming a fully independent practitioner. Kelly also collaborates with numerous SM professionals from around the world to continue learning about Selective Mutism.
As a parent who has been on this journey herself, she knows how important parents are in the success of their child's ability to overcome Selective Mutism. She works diligently with parents through Parent Training to find practical, individualized strategies to help parents support their child. She also understands the importance of rapport building and understanding the individual when working 1:1 either virtually or in-person with children and teens with SM. Kelly uses her training in ABA as well as her certification in the Safe & Sound Protocol and Primitive Reflex Integration to support her clients from the inside out and to find appropriate, individualized steps to help them as they work towards overcoming their SM, just like her daughter did.
