Light On Anxiety
Dr. Anna Martinez-Snyder is a Clinical Psychologist and anxiety specialist. She received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on child and adolescent development, from Northern Illinois University. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at JCFS Chicago and her postdoctoral fellowship at Konick and Associates, where she refined her expertise in treating anxiety disorders in children and adolescents using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Dr. Martinez’s passion lies in working with young children (ages 3-6) and integrating parent coaching as an essential component of treatment. She specializes in treating selective mutism through an adaptation of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for selective mutism (PCIT-SM). Complementing her extensive training in anxiety treatment, Dr. Martinez is skilled in conducting comprehensive neuropsychological assessments. She believes that effective treatment plans start with an accurate diagnosis.
Adopting a client-centered approach, Dr. Martinez tailors her methods to meet the unique needs of each client, working collaboratively with clients and their parents throughout treatment. Her dedication lies in empowering clients to learn their strengths, areas for growth, and practical skills that can be used throughout their lives. With a specific focus on anxiety, Dr. Martinez aims to help clients shift from avoidant behavior to approach behavior, enabling them to regain control and effectively manage their anxiety.
